wE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO DO A COMMUNITY GATHERING AND LIGHT PARADE IN BERRY CREEK! wE ARE SO VERY THANKFUL TO THE GENEROUS DONORS THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE.
It has been a bit of a rough Summer! But we are trying to power forward; heat and unhealthy air quality conditions have put a damper and much of our fundraising. We had a couple setbacks including thieves and vandals messing with our company truck and our member's and volunteer's personal vehicles. But despite all that we have put in an application for a home base office location so that we can continue our efforts to help others!
We were also picked to receive a grant for gift cards to go to Dixie Fire Survivors and will be stepping in to help those fire survivors when we can. Sadly some are 2 and 3 time fire survivors; one of which had moved to Greenville after losing their home in Berry Creek, only to lose another! Is this just the new normal???
We hope that we get an opportunity to receive a grant that we can use for our own community but at this time there re none. But maybe the media attention will help us in future endeavors!
We raised enough money to purchase a box truck! Table Mountain Restaurant gave us an amazing deal on their catering truck and it will help us out so much! We are having some work done to the truck and hope to have it on the road by June!
We are looking into office building and warehouse options next! Please check out our 'local' page for future fundraising events and Community information.
Yesterday we received our letter from the IRS approving our tax exempt status! We are officially a 501(c)3 public nonprofit organization! We are actively looking into opportunities such as grants. We are dreaming big! We are so thankful for all the support we have gotten and awaiting bigger things!
So far we have been unable to do any significant fundraising due to weather and COVID-19. We have plans for a small community festival in the works but we are in desperate need of volunteers to make it work. We still need funding to finish our propane program; approximately 50% of those signed up have received a full tank but we are at a stand still for now. We have a board meeting to discuss potential big changes tomorrow. Stay tuned for big news!
Happy New Year!!! We went out of 2020 with a bang! We had so much generosity and support for our Christmas Dinner & Toy Drive! Over 500 wrapped gifts were given out on Christmas Day plus we got over 100 last-minute, unwrapped toys also! Santa said hi, we were able to give out coats, socks, blankets, and toiletries to families in need, and feed over 500 people and hand deliver meals to over 100 local families. We were featured on several local news programs and got a lot of much needed recognition. This all because of the tremendous local support, volunteers, and donations we have been receiving.
We will soon be establishing what our 2021 goals will be and update our site accordingly. We still need donations to keep things afloat and our focus is now on major fundraising.
We have been very busy but attaining many of our goals quickly! Our propane program has launched and we have over 20 full tanks ready to disperse! We are in the process of getting them to our applicants. We still need to get about 30 more to cover all the applicants we have so far. Donations are needed! We are very thankful to Ameri Gas in Sparks, Nevada and the Village Market for their donations to get this program started!!!
We are also prepping for our Christmas event. We have been blessed to get lots of toys and have been wrapping like crazy! We are still hoping to get more donations to make this event as special as possible for the children!
We are seeing a desperate need for propane and propane tanks. The weather has changed rapidly and many are making their way back up to the mountains they were burned out of; some with only a tent for shelter. We are trying to work with local companies and raise money to be able to get 50-100 five gallon propane tanks to survivors. If you can help or know someone that can, please donate or send us a message. Time is of the essence with this necessity!
We have developed a plan to hold a Christmas toy drive (see our newly added page for details) and drive-thru dinner event.
We were donated a giant BBQ smoker trailer last week by Bill Taylor at OTS Welding! This Thursday we will be serving to-go Thanksgiving dinners to anyone who needs a hot meal! We have so many plans for this generous donation! We will also be handing out what new donations we have left to survivors during the drive-thru event.
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us make these things possible!
